FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does the treatment last? The first visit is 1 ½ hours. I take time to get to know you as a whole person, not just your physical ailment. The follow-up sessions last an hour. The actual treatments are 30-40 minutes.
Does acupuncture hurt? What does it feel like?
I tell women that the worse it will feel would be like plucking your eyebrows. Usually there is no feeling with needle insertion. The needles are thin, like a strand of hair. While relaxing with the needles in place you may feel a heavy, warm or tingling sensation. It is fine not to feel anything too, the treatment is still working. About half of my patients fall asleep during the treatment.
When should I expect to notice a change in my condition?
Usually patients feel a little better after each visit. Sometimes they have remarkable improvements, and occasionally even after 3-4 visits they don’t notice any changes. In order to make a proper evaluation it is important to continue treatment for at least 3-4 visits. Just as everybody is different, so are their healing responses.
How often should I get acupuncture treatments?
If you are having an acute pain, like a sprain or muscle strain, then you should get 2-3 treatments aweek. If you have a chronic condition then once a week is sufficient.
